THE CUBBYHOUSE MENAI
Guiding, nurturing and supporting every child through their early years.
At The Cubbyhouse, we’ve been part of the 2234 community since 1995 — offering a welcoming, not-for-profit space where children aged 6 weeks to 6 years can grow, learn and thrive. With a passionate team of educators and a focus on family connection, we’re proud to provide high-quality care through our Pre School, Long Day Care and Occasional Care programs.

A Place to Grow, Explore and Belong
At The Cubbyhouse, learning is play-based, hands-on and full of wonder. Our small, purpose-built centre is designed to support every stage of early childhood development — from six weeks to six years — with activities that encourage confidence, creativity, and connection.
With strong ties to the local Menai community and a dedicated team of experienced educators, we take a holistic approach to early education that supports not just the children in our care, but their families too.

Our Goal
We strive for families to feel as they enter our service, that it is an extension of their home environment.

Frequently Asked Question
Most commonly asked questions from our community
What is a community based, not for profit centre?
This service model allows surplus funds to be reinvested into the centre to improve facilities, resources, professional development and pay educators above award wages. It means that the centre does not distribute profits to owners or shareholders.
Our main goal is to serve the community by reflecting the values, needs and cultures of the community we serve. We aim to make early childhood education more affordable, flexible and accessible.
What is your management structure?
The Cubbyhouse is managed by a volunteer management committee made up of parents. The committee is responsible for making key decisions about operations, budgeting, hiring and compliance with regulations.
How does Occasional Care work?
Occasional Care is a flexible care arrangement, where families can attend the service based on their individual needs. Once enrolled, families can book into care for blocks of time (minimum 2 hours) on a sporadic schedule. This is perfect for; families transitioning into care for the first time, other care alternatives are unavailable i.e. grandparents are on a holiday, families needing care to attend medical appointments etc.
What are your fees?
Our daily rates for
0-3yr olds are $125/day
3-5yr olds are $123/day
Occasional Care $25/hr
We offer CCS and Start Strong Long Day Care
What is provided in your fees?
We provide all meals, delivered fresh daily from Kids Gourmet food. Nappies, bedding and a hat are also provided.
We also engage in incursions and weekly fitness/dancing sessions from outside companies that are covered in the fees.
Does your service employ casual educators?
No, we don’t, all our educators are employed Permanent Part Time, allowing them to be flexible should the need arise to cover a shift. We do this for two reasons. We find that working PPT minimises burnout, but also ensure all children across the week know all the educators employed here, ensuring consistency of care.
Does The Cubbyhouse operate on the legislated educator to child ratios?
No, being a Not for profit centre we are able to invest in our team ensuring there is at least two educators above ratio on the floor at all times.

Which Is The Best Preschool For Your Child ?
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution.
