Service
Offering Preschool, Long Day Care & Occasional Care
The Cubbyhouse Preschool & Occasional Care Centre is licensed for 29 children per day and accessible to all children aged 6 weeks – 6 years. We are a small, community based, not-for-profit early learning centre, with qualified and experienced Early Childhood Educators.
We offer: Pre School, Long Day Care and Occasional Care services to the community in a family grouped, homely environment.
A community based centre & service
The Cubbyhouse is a beautifully resourced, purpose-built centre.
With a flowing indoor to outdoor play space, nestled in among the trees, we are conveniently located within walking distance to everything the Menai Community has to offer. This means, we can often take our learning outside of the centre and explore a more holistic approach to teaching.
As a Community based service, we value collaborative partnerships with our families and the broader community. We value family and community involvement and welcome this wherever possible.
As a not-for-profit service, our Management Committee is involved in planning and implementing fundraising events to ensure the children at our centre receive the best possible education and resources during their time here at The Cubbyhouse.

The Program
Learning through play, growing with purpose
The curriculum consists of a variety of interest based experiences, with a balanced approach to both intentional teaching and open ended play. As children prepare for their final year of preschool, a school readiness program is implemented within the service. This allows children to engage in age appropriate, small group experiences, promoting language, numeracy, literacy and STEM as well as supporting the extremely crucial social/emotional development.
Nutrition
Nourishing little bodies (and minds)
The Centre provides nutritious morning, lunch and afternoon teas to children including fruit, healthy snacks, milk and water.
Educators will sit with the children at meal times and encourage positive eating behaviour. Children are never forced to eat but they are encouraged to try.
Please let us know if your child is allergic to or unable to eat certain foods. Some children have severe allergies to nuts and nut products. We have therefore made the Centre a ‘nut aware service’. With no nut products permitted at the centre.
